Μώλος Beach
Golden sands, shallow calm water, Naxos on the horizon

About
stretches along the northeast coast of Paros near Naoussa, a long arc of golden sand backed by a rare sea-grass stabilised dune system that keeps the shoreline intact and the air faintly wild. The water is crystal clear and stays shallow for a long way out, making every step feel safe and unhurried. A northeast exposure means the bay catches gentle breezes but rarely rough surf, and the silhouette of Naxos sits on the horizon like a painted backdrop. Development here is deliberately low-key — no beach bars stacked wall to wall, no jet-ski rental touts. It's the kind of place that rewards those who simply want to swim, dry off on golden sand, and repeat.
How to get there
From Naoussa it's about a 15-minute drive; from the nearby hamlet of Ambelas you'll be there in 5 minutes. The road leads directly to the beach front, where informal roadside parking is available free of charge — no app, no ticket machine, just pull off sensibly. Access on foot is flat and straightforward, and while there are no formal accessibility provisions, the terrain is as favourable as a sandy beach gets.
Who it's for
For couples
The low development density and quiet atmosphere make an easy choice for couples who want long walks on golden sand without the noise of a busier resort beach — the Naxos view at dusk is a genuine bonus.
For families
The long shallow sandy bottom is the headline feature for families — children can wade out a long way in crystal-clear water without the depth dropping away suddenly, and the flat beach access means pushchairs and beach carts aren't a struggle.
Our take
Feet in the sand, eyes on the screen
is safe to swim, easy to reach, and genuinely quiet — that combination is harder to find on Paros than you'd think. The long shallow bottom means the crystal-clear water stays ankle-to-waist depth for a long stretch, which is why families keep coming back. The sea-grass dunes are the ecological backbone of the whole beach, so treat them accordingly. It won't win prizes for facilities — there are none on the sand itself — but that's precisely the point. If you want a beach that feels like it belongs to the island rather than to the tourism industry, this is it. Worth the short drive from Naoussa.
What to do
The small fishing village of Ambelas is just 2 km away — a short drive or a pleasant walk — where traditional tavernas serve whatever came off the boats that morning. If you have a car, the Naoussa Venetian Port is worth the 10 km trip for its partially submerged castle ruins at the harbour entrance. Horse riders can head to Kokou riding center, about 6 km from the beach, for a different perspective on the Parian landscape.
Stand at the water's edge facing northwest at sunset — the crystal-clear shallows in the foreground, golden sand curving away, and the Naxos silhouette on the horizon give you a layered shot that no filter needs to improve.
The dune system at the back of the beach, textured with sea-grass, makes a strong natural-landscape frame in morning light when the beach is still empty.
Where to eat
The closest options cluster around 1.7–1.9 km from the beach: TSIPIDO and Stavros are the nearest, followed by Anthi Meze for a meze-style spread. If you're after pizza, Soiree Restaurant Pizzeria fits the bill, and Gialos Paros rounds out the local Greek options — all within a 5-minute drive.
Where to stay
Elena Studios & Appartements at 1.6 km and Aloni Hotel at 1.7 km are the closest bases, both within easy reach of the beach. Arkas Inn at 2.1 km is another solid option, and those wanting more space can look at Asteras Paradise or Parocks further afield.
Photography
Shoot from the waterline at golden hour looking northwest — the low sun catches the crystal-clear shallows and turns the golden sand amber while the Naxos silhouette deepens on the horizon. Early morning light is equally good for capturing the dune system from the beach edge without visitors in frame.
Good to know
The dune system behind the beach is held together by sea-grass vegetation — do not walk on it, pull at it, or drive over it; damaging it is both ecologically harmful and against local rules. The shallow, calm water makes this one of the safer swimming spots on Paros, but always supervise children in the sea. Come early in the day if you want the beach to yourself; by mid-morning in July and August families from across the island find their way here. There are no facilities directly on the beach, so bring water, sunscreen, and anything else you need.
