About

Piso Livadi sits on the southeast coast of Paros, where a working fishing port meets a quiet stretch of golden sand and open blue water. Colourful caiques bob at anchor just metres from where you'd lay your towel, and the scent of grilled fish drifts down from waterfront tavernas by midday. It's an authentic Cycladic fishing village that hasn't been polished for tourists — the nets, the boats, the locals are all genuinely here. The beach itself is compact and relaxed, with easy flat access and calm, safe swimming. Come for the atmosphere as much as the water.

How to get there

From Parikia, it's a 25-minute drive southeast; from the nearby village of Marpissa, just 5 minutes by car. A seasonal bus runs from Parikia roughly every 3 hours, taking around 47 minutes — workable if you're not in a rush. Free street parking is available near the port in the village. There's no entry fee.

Who it's for

For couples

The relaxed pace, waterfront tavernas, and authentic village setting make Piso Livadi a low-key, genuinely local alternative to Paros's busier beaches — an easy evening of fresh fish and blue water without the performance.

For families

The flat sandy beach, easy road access, free parking, and calm safe swimming make logistics simple with kids; the working port gives curious children something real to watch beyond the waterline.

Our take

Feet in the sand, eyes on the screen

Piso Livadi is safe to swim and genuinely relaxed — just keep away from the port entrance where boats move in and out. This is one of the few spots on Paros where the fishing village setting is the main event, not a backdrop. The golden sand and blue water are pleasant, but it's the caiques, the tavernas, and the unhurried local rhythm that set it apart. It won't win any awards for dramatic scenery, and it's not trying to. If you want an authentic afternoon on the southeast coast without fighting for a sunbed, this is your beach.— The wmb team

What to do

The medieval hilltop village of Marpissa is only 3km away — windmill ruins and panoramic views over the southeast coast make it worth an hour of your afternoon. Logaras Beach, a long sandy stretch with tavernas right on the sand, is 2km north and easy to combine in the same day. If you're after wind and waves, Chrysi Akti (Golden Beach) is 6km south — Paros's most famous windsurfing spot with 700 metres of golden sand. The Kokou riding center is about 8km away for anyone wanting to explore the island on horseback.

Instagram spots

Frame the colourful caiques at anchor against the blue water from the port-side end of the beach — best in the soft light of early morning before the village wakes.

The waterfront taverna row makes a strong wide shot from the water's edge at golden hour, with the Cycladic village architecture stacked behind.

Where to eat

Right on the waterfront, Gialos Paros serves Greek classics steps from the water, and Anthi Meze is 0.1km away for sharing plates. Stavros is the closest option at the port itself, while Soiree Restaurant Pizzeria covers pizza nights 0.1km from the beach. Fisilanis is a short 0.5km walk if you want to range a little further.

Where to stay

Aloni Hotel is the closest option at 0.1km, well-placed for the port and beach. Elena Studios & Appartements and Arkas Inn are both within 0.3km — practical, local-scale places that suit the village pace. If you prefer a larger beach hotel, Golden Beach Hotel and Amaryllis Beach Hotel are both 3.7km away near Chrysi Akti.

Photography

The best shot at Piso Livadi is early morning: golden sand in the foreground, colourful caiques reflected in flat blue water, and the village behind — shoot from the port-side end of the beach. Late afternoon light catches the fishing boats from the opposite angle and turns the waterfront taverna facades warm amber.

Good to know

Stay well clear of the port entrance when swimming — boat traffic is real and the channel is active, so keep to the open beach side. The bus schedule is infrequent, so check return times before you leave Parikia. Early mornings are quietest and the light on the caiques is at its best. Captain Yiannis, just 0.1km away, is the nearest spot if you need wifi or a working surface.
