About

Praia da Ferradurinha is a compact, granite-framed cove in Armação dos Búzios, stretching roughly 110 metres of white sand between dramatic boulders. The water runs a clear turquoise and stays calm enough for a lazy afternoon float — the surrounding granite walls shelter it from swell and wind alike. It's quieter than its larger neighbour Praia da Ferradura, just 0.5 km away, which makes it a favourite for those who want intimacy over spectacle. A single kiosk handles refreshments, and that's about all the infrastructure you'll find. The romantic, unhurried vibe is the whole point.

How to get there

From Armação dos Búzios centre, the drive takes around 15 minutes by car. If you're already at Geribá Beach, a 5-minute walk from the left corner of the beach brings you straight here. Parking is available nearby — free street spots exist if you're lucky, while private paid lots charge roughly R$20–50 per day. There's no entry fee to the beach itself.

Who it's for

For couples

The combination of calm turquoise water, white sand, and granite boulders at intimate scale makes this a romantic beach — arrive on a weekday outside peak season and you may have most of it to yourselves.

For families

The calm, sheltered water is safe for swimming and the easy access means no difficult trails with kids in tow — the single kiosk keeps snacks close, and the short 5-minute walk from Geribá makes it simple to combine both beaches in one day.

Our take

Ferradurinha earns its reputation for one reason: it's small, calm, and genuinely quiet in a way that most Búzios beaches are not. Swimming is safe, the turquoise water is clear, and the granite boulders give it a visual drama that belies its modest 110-metre length. Watch for jellyfish before you get in — ask at the kiosk if there have been recent sightings. Come between May and October for the dry season and the best chance of having the cove mostly to yourself. Avoid December through February if the intimate scale is what drew you here, because peak season changes the character of the place entirely. It's not a beach for a full activity-packed day — it's a beach for slowing down.— The wmb team

What to do

The obvious neighbour is Praia da Ferradura, just 0.5 km away — a larger horseshoe bay with sailing and watersports if you want more action after a quiet morning here. For a short hike with a payoff, Pedra do Guardião is 0.9 km away and worth the leg stretch. Back in town, the Orla Bardot promenade — 3.5 km from the beach — offers a cobblestone waterfront walk and the famous Brigitte Bardot bronze statue, a classic Búzios stop.

Instagram spots

The waterline looking back toward the rocks works well, especially when the sea is glassy calm.

The granite boulders at either end of the cove also offer elevated angles that frame the full arc of white sand and turquoise water.

Where to eat

Right at the beach, the single kiosk covers the basics — don't expect a full menu, but it's enough for a cold drink and a snack. Sandubom dos Lucas and White Ferradurinha are within 0.1 km if you want a proper meal without going far. For a more local, home-cooked feel, Bar da Aldeia Restaurante Comida Caseira and Quiosque do Mineiro are both around 0.7 km away.

Where to stay

Chez Pitu is the closest option at 0.7 km, followed by Hotel Alforria at 0.9 km — both put you within easy reach of the beach without being on top of it. Pousada Luzes de Geribá (1.1 km), Serena Hotel (1.2 km), and Hotel Pousada Bugaloo (1.5 km) round out the nearby choices if those are full.

Photography

The best shots come from the granite boulders framing either end of the cove — late afternoon is equally good when the granite glows warm and the water deepens in tone.

Good to know

Keep an eye out for jellyfish — sightings do occur on certain days, so scan the water before you wade in and ask the kiosk attendant if there have been recent reports. The beach has no formal wheelchair infrastructure, so sandy access is the only option. Avoid visiting in December, January, and February if you value the quiet: peak-season visitors reduce the intimate character of this small cove significantly. Dogs are welcome with no formal restrictions, so feel free to bring yours along.
