Pointe Marin Beach
White sand, turquoise water, Diamond Rock on the horizon

About
Plage de Pointe Marin stretches roughly 500 metres along the southern tip of Martinique, in the commune of Sainte-Anne. The white sand is fine and clean, the water turquoise and calm enough for safe swimming. Diamond Rock — the famous volcanic sentinel — sits on the horizon, giving the beach a backdrop that no postcard can quite do justice. Family facilities are in place, the pace is relaxed, and the Trace des Caps coastal trail begins right here, so the beach doubles as a gateway to wilder terrain.
How to get there
The easiest approach is by car via the D9 from Sainte-Anne — roughly five minutes. A paid parking lot sits a few hundred metres from the beach; the fee is 3 euros, and street parking in the surrounding area is also possible. Alternatively, Vedettes Madinina operates a ferry service that takes about 20 minutes. Access to the beach itself is easy.
Who it's for
For couples
The Diamond Rock silhouette at dusk and a quiet stretch of white sand make Pointe Marin a genuinely romantic stop — pair it with dinner at La Kabananou, about 7.5 km away, for a full evening.
For families
Family facilities are already in place, the swimming is rated safe, and the water is calm and turquoise — kids can wade in without drama while parents keep an eye on Diamond Rock in the distance.
Our take
Feet in the sand, eyes on the screen
Pointe Marin is one of the most complete family beaches in southern Martinique — safe water, white sand, easy access, and one of the Caribbean's most photogenic natural landmarks sitting right on the horizon. It's not a secret, and it doesn't pretend to be. What it delivers, it delivers reliably: calm turquoise swimming, a trailhead for those who want more than a sunbed, and enough infrastructure to keep a full day comfortable. Come in the dry season between November and April for the best conditions. Skip September and October — hurricane season is not a risk worth taking. If you're based in Sainte-Anne, this is your beach.
What to do
Diamond Rock (Rocher du Diamant) is the star attraction — the volcanic island is visible from the beach and is popular with divers who want to explore its underwater walls. The Trace des Caps hiking trail starts right at Pointe Marin; it's a demanding coastal route, so wear proper shoes and carry water. A short drive away, the Savanna of Petrifications is a striking natural site worth the six-kilometre detour.
Frame Diamond Rock over the turquoise shallows from the waterline at sunrise — the contrast between white sand and the volcanic silhouette is striking.
The Trace des Caps trailhead offers a higher angle looking back along the full 500-metre beach. At midday, the colour of the water directly in front of the beach is at its most vivid turquoise.
Where to eat
LÔ Beach Club — Les Boucaniers is just 300 metres away and the most convenient option after a swim. For something with serious local credentials, Restaurant Snack Boubou Bokits has been serving since 2006 and sits about 1.5 km away, while Le M — a 1.6 km drive — has built up over 1,700 reviews for good reason.
Where to stay
Club Med Les Boucaniers is essentially on the doorstep at 100 metres, making it the obvious base if you want to roll out of bed and onto the beach. Pierre et Vacances Resort Sainte-Luce offers a solid self-catering alternative about 5.7 km along the coast.
Photography
Shoot early morning when the low sun catches the turquoise water and Diamond Rock glows on the horizon — that's your hero shot. The Trace des Caps trailhead also offers elevated vantage points looking back over the white sand crescent, best in the golden hour before sunset.
Good to know
Come early in the dry season — November through April — to enjoy the calmest weather and the clearest turquoise water. Avoid September and October entirely: those are peak hurricane-season months and conditions can turn dangerous fast. The beach draws a moderate number of visitors on weekends, so a weekday morning gives you the best stretch of white sand to yourself. Bring cash for the parking lot.
