Tambisaan Beach
Boracay's quiet southeast shore where local life lingers

About
Tambisaan Beach sits on Boracay's southeast coast, a world away from the island's famous party strip. White sand meets crystal-clear water over a shallow reef flat, giving the shoreline a calm, unhurried character that draws fishing boats rather than jet-skis. The vibe here is genuinely relaxed — locals mend nets, tricycles rumble past, and the pace slows to something close to the island's older rhythm. It doubles as a departure point for island-hopping trips, so mornings can see a flurry of activity before the day settles into quiet.
How to get there
Reach Tambisaan by tricycle or motorbike from anywhere on Boracay Island — both are easy to flag down near Station 3 or White Beach. You can also arrive by boat directly from Station 3 / White Beach if you prefer the sea route. Limited free parking is available at the access points, though street parking is scarce, so arriving by tricycle is the more practical choice for most visitors.
Who it's for
For couples
Tambisaan's relaxed pace and local-life backdrop make it a low-key alternative for couples who'd rather share a quiet reef flat than compete for sunloungers — pair it with a bangka ride to Crystal Cove for an easy half-day out.
For families
The safe swimming conditions and shallow reef flat give families a calm place to wade and explore without strong surf, and the nearby Mangrove boardwalk at 1.5 km adds an easy nature detour that kids tend to enjoy.
Our take
Feet in the sand, eyes on the screen
Tambisaan won't dazzle you with beach clubs or cocktail menus, and that's exactly the point. This is Boracay before the resort era caught up — a fishing village beach that happens to have white sand and crystal-clear water. Swimming is safe, the reef flat is worth a slow wade, and the island-hopping scene gives the morning a pulse of genuine local commerce. Come in the dry season, November through April, for the best conditions. If you're after the postcard Boracay, head to White Beach. If you want to see how the island actually lives, Tambisaan earns the tricycle ride.
What to do
Tambisaan is the go-to launch point for island-hopping excursions, with Crystal Cove just 1.4 km away offering dramatic rock formations and snorkelling. The Mangrove boardwalk, about 1.5 km from the beach, is worth the short trip for a look at Boracay's quieter ecological side. If you want to pick up local souvenirs or fresh produce, Island Mall Old Talipapa is roughly 1.8 km away and gives a genuine slice of local market life.
The row of coloured bangka boats lined up on the white sand at the island-hopping departure point is the most distinctly local shot on this stretch of coast.
Shoot the reef flat from knee-deep water looking back toward the shore for a composition that balances crystal-clear foreground with the village backdrop. Crystal Cove, just 1.4 km away, adds dramatic rock arches to your set if you're willing to make the short trip.
Where to eat
For a no-frills local meal, a carenderia serving Filipino home cooking sits about 1.4 km from the beach — cheap, filling, and as local as it gets. Conga's and Bistro Des Amis are both around 1.6–1.7 km away if you want something with a bit more atmosphere. Erus Hotel and Spa and Huey Ying Music Restaurant round out the nearby options at roughly the same distance.
Where to stay
Lingganay Boracay Hotel Resort is the closest option at 0.7 km, a solid base for exploring the southeast coast without the White Beach price tag. Hilltop Resort at 0.8 km and Boracay Hills Resort & Spa Helios at 0.9 km both offer elevated positions that can mean better breezes and views. Monaco Suites de Boracay and Boracay Grace Hotel are also within 1.3 km if you want a wider choice.
Photography
Shoot from the waterline at sunrise when the crystal-clear shallows catch the early light and fishing boats sit still on the reef flat — the southeast orientation makes mornings golden. The island-hopping departure scene, with coloured bangkas lined up against white sand, gives you authentic Boracay texture that the main beach simply can't offer.
Good to know
Go early if you want the reef flat to yourself — island-hopping boats load up in the morning and the departure energy fades by mid-morning. Swimming is rated safe, but stay aware of boat traffic near the island-hopping departure zone and keep clear of any moving vessels. The dry season runs November through April, which is the most comfortable time to visit; the wet season from May through October brings rain and choppier conditions. Respect the fishing village atmosphere — this is a working community, not a resort beach, so keep noise low and leave no rubbish behind.
