Toni Beach
Golden sand, turquoise water, half the fuss of Coral Bay

About
is a compact, quiet beach on the western edge of Paphos, tucked behind a limestone headland that separates it from the busier Coral Bay just 500 metres away. Golden sand meets turquoise water in a sheltered arc of roughly 120 metres, and the rocky edges on either side make for rewarding snorkelling. The cliff path that delivers you here keeps casual daytrippers away, so the atmosphere stays genuinely relaxed even in peak summer. There are no facilities whatsoever — no sunbed hire, no beach bar, no toilets — so pack everything you need before you set off.
How to get there
The only way in is on foot via a cliff path from the Coral Bay Beach car park — a 10-minute walk that's manageable for most but not wheelchair accessible. Use the Coral Bay car park; there is no parking at or near itself. The path can be slippery when wet, so wear shoes with grip if rain is forecast. There is no entry fee.
Who it's for
For couples
The quiet atmosphere and cliff-path-only access mean you're unlikely to share the golden sand with more than a handful of other visitors — it's an easy, low-key escape that feels private without requiring any real effort.
For families
Safe swimming conditions and a dog-friendly policy make it workable for families, but the cliff path and complete absence of facilities — no toilets, no shade structures, no food — mean it suits older children better than toddlers or anyone needing amenities close at hand.
Our take
Feet in the sand, eyes on the screen
earns its reputation as a quieter alternative to Coral Bay, and the 10-minute cliff walk is a genuinely effective filter — only visitors who actually want to be there make the effort. Swimming is safe, the turquoise water is clear, and the snorkelling over the rocky edges is the best reason to come. That said, go in with honest expectations: no facilities means no toilets, no shade, no cold drinks, and no one to call for help if something goes wrong on the path. The lack of a lifeguard is a real consideration, not a minor footnote. Visit between June and September for reliable warm weather, and treat the cliff path with respect after any rainfall. If Coral Bay feels too busy and you're happy to carry your own supplies, this is the right call.
What to do
The rocky edges fringing the beach are the main draw for snorkellers — clear turquoise water and varied underwater terrain make for easy, rewarding exploration without specialist kit. When you're done in the water, the Tombs of the Kings UNESCO-listed necropolis is 2.4 km away and well worth an afternoon. The Agios Georgios Basilica ruins, with their Byzantine mosaic floors above a fishing harbour, sit about 6 km up the coast and pair well with a drive back along the shoreline.
Stand at the top of the cliff path looking down — the limestone headland, golden sand, and turquoise water compress into a single frame that needs no filter.
The rocky edges at either end of the beach, shot at low angle with the water behind, show off the snorkelling terrain and the colour contrast between stone and sea.
Where to eat
There are no facilities on the beach itself, so eat before you arrive or bring your own supplies. Angelika, Aliceland, and Pepperoni Pizza are all around 1.1 km away near Coral Bay, and Petros Family Restaurant — good for regional Cypriot cooking — is 1.2 km from the beach. Paradise restaurant is another option at the same distance if you want something after a long swim.
Where to stay
Akteon Village is the closest base at 0.4 km, followed by Rododafni at 0.6 km and Akti Beach Village at 0.7 km — all within easy walking distance of the Coral Bay car park trailhead. If you prefer self-catering, Anastasia Holiday Apartments and the Laura hotel are both 1.3 km away.
Photography
The limestone headland framing the left side of the beach makes a strong foreground element — shoot from the end of the cliff path at golden hour for warm light on the turquoise water and golden sand. Early morning, before other visitors arrive, gives you clean, uncluttered wide shots of the full 120-metre arc.
Good to know
The cliff path becomes genuinely hazardous after rain — slippery rock sections can catch you off guard, so check the forecast and wear proper footwear. There is no lifeguard on duty at any time, so swim within your ability and keep an eye on children in the water. Dogs are welcome with no formal restrictions, making it a good option for visitors travelling with pets. Arrive before mid-morning in July and August if you want the golden sand largely to yourself.
