Qeparoit Beach
Boat-only pebble beach where the Albanian Riviera stays wild

About
Plazhi i Qeparoit sits on the Albanian Riviera, reachable only by water, which is exactly why it keeps its unhurried character. Grey pebbles line the shore, polished smooth by the blue Adriatic, and the surrounding hillsides carry the quiet weight of a Venetian tower and an old village above. The water runs a deep, clear blue — the kind that rewards anyone who takes the time to get here. It's a relaxed stretch with no road noise, no car fumes, just the sound of waves on stone.
How to get there
There is no road to this beach — you reach Plazhi i Qeparoit exclusively by boat or ferry. A ferry connection takes approximately 90 minutes; longer international crossings are operated by Grimaldi Lines from Brindisi to Igoumenítsa (around 525 minutes) and by Anek Lines, Minoan Lines, and Superfast Ferries on a roughly 960-minute route. Because access is entirely by water, there is no parking of any kind — plan your journey accordingly and travel light.
Who it's for
For couples
The boat-only approach strips away the day-tripper traffic and leaves you with grey pebbles, blue water, and a Venetian tower on the hill — a genuinely quiet setting for two people who want to slow down.
For families
The relaxed pace and nearby village of Qeparo suit families who don't mind the ferry journey and want a low-key Albanian Riviera base with real local character rather than a resort strip.
Our take
Feet in the sand, eyes on the screen
Plazhi i Qeparoit is the kind of place that filters itself — if you're not willing to get on a boat, you don't get in. That self-selection keeps the atmosphere genuinely relaxed and the grey pebble shore free of the noise that plagues more accessible spots on the Riviera. The deep blue Adriatic, the Venetian tower overhead, and the old village of Qeparo give it a layered character that goes beyond a pretty beach. Come between June and September; outside those months the ferry logistics get harder and the payoff shrinks. It's not a beach for people who want convenience — it's a beach for people who want the Albanian coast the way it actually is.
What to do
Just 0.5 km away, Gjiri Amla — Amla Bay — offers another quiet cove worth exploring by water. If you're up for a walk, the panoramic viewpoint at Qeparo i Siperm is 1.8 km out and rewards with sweeping Riviera views. Heart Beach, 2.3 km along the coast, is a photogenic detour that earns its name from above.
The Venetian tower perched above the village frames a shot that no other Albanian Riviera beach can replicate — pair it with the grey pebble foreground and deep blue water below.
Gjiri Amla bay, 0.5 km along the coast, offers a tighter cove composition worth the short boat hop. Heart Beach at 2.3 km earns its name from the aerial angle — if you have a drone, this is the shot.
Where to eat
Horizonti Blu, just 0.1 km from the beach, covers seafood, friture, pasta, and local dishes — a solid all-rounder for a post-swim lunch. Barbarossa Seafood Tavern & Pizza is equally close at 0.1 km and leans into the catch of the day. For something more casual, Jo&Jo Street Food is 0.2 km away, and Te Stefi Restaurant & Piceri rounds things out at 0.4 km.
Where to stay
Hotel Riviera sits just 0.1 km from the beach and is the most convenient base. Sunset Apartments at 0.2 km offer a self-catering option if you prefer flexibility. Further afield, FantaSea (1.3 km) and Hotel Kavalieri (2.8 km) give you more distance from the shore if you want a quieter night.
Photography
The Venetian tower above Qeparo village makes a compelling backdrop — shoot in the late afternoon when the light falls across the grey pebbles and the blue Adriatic behind. For a wider composition, the panoramic point at Qeparo i Siperm (1.8 km) gives you the full sweep of the coastline in the golden hour before sunset.
Good to know
Arrive early in the season — June is quieter than August, and the beach's boat-only access doesn't make it a secret forever. The closest airport is Corfu's Ioannis Kapodistrias International (CFU), about 50.7 km away, which makes it a practical staging point. The Venetian tower above the village is worth the walk up for context and views. Pack everything you need for the day; resupply options are limited once you're on the water.
