About

Plaża w Lubiatowie stretches for an extraordinary ~24,781 metres along the Baltic Coast in Pomerania, Poland — a remarkably long uninterrupted sandy shore. The golden sand meets open blue water with a wide, flat foreshore that feels genuinely untouched, because it largely is: permanent protection from development keeps it that way. Behind the beach, a deliberately unmanaged coastal forest hums with wind and wildlife, its paths raw and unpredictable. The IBW PAN research station and its scientific monitoring infrastructure give this place a quietly serious character — this is a beach that earns its keep as a living laboratory, not just a sunbathing strip.

The MOOVSWELL of Lubiatowo Beach

The moment after.

MOOVSWELL is a state of mind. The wave is the action, the rush; right after comes the calm, the breath, that moment where you slow down and find your balance again. This score measures what a beach does to you in that very moment.

72/100

Here, you disappear quietly

Dominant profile : Breath + Echo

You walk for an hour and see no one — just flat sand, cold Baltic wind, and trees that nobody trims.

BreathWhat calms23/25

No bars, no parking lot noise, no crowds. Just 25 kilometres of open beach and the wind doing its thing.

MomentumWhat restarts10/25

The Baltic is active but the beach itself is still. There's movement in the water, not much else.

SoothingWhat repairs19/25

Golden sand, wide foreshore, untouched forest behind you. It's gentle, but raw — not polished or pretty.

EchoWhat stays20/25

Scientists study erosion here so nothing gets built. You're standing on a beach that's protected by research, not tourism.

How to get there

By car from Wejherowo the drive takes around 40 minutes, daily. Alternatively, Stena Line operates a ferry connection, though the crossing is a lengthy 630 minutes — plan accordingly. Paid parking is available near the beach, with cashier-free, cashless payment at park meters; expect to pay 40 zł per day off-season and 100 zł per day in high season. WC and basic services are available on site at the parking area.

Who it's for

For couples

The empty, wild character of Plaża w Lubiatowie makes it genuinely rare — long stretches of golden sand with almost no one else around, backed by an untouched forest that feels like a private world. It's the kind of place where you walk for an hour and still haven't seen another soul.

For families

The wide, flat foreshore gives children plenty of room to run, and the forest edge offers natural shade and curiosity — but note that there is no lifeguard, the forest paths can be hazardous after storms, and the soft sand and forest tracks are not wheelchair accessible. Families with young swimmers should stay close to shore and exercise real caution.

Our take

No lifeguard, no development, no manicured promenade — Plaża w Lubiatowie is the real Baltic, unfiltered. Swim with genuine caution: the water is open, the shore is unguarded, and the conditions can change. What you get in return is nearly 25 kilometres of golden sand that feels like it belongs to no one and everyone at once, backed by a forest that the authorities have deliberately left wild. The IBW PAN research station gives this place a purpose beyond tourism, and that shows — the beach has a quiet authority that most seaside destinations lack. Come in June through September for the best weather, arrive early to beat any access congestion, and leave the beach exactly as you found it. This is not a party beach. It's a place to walk, think, and let the Baltic wind do its work.— The wmb team

What to do

Horse-riding is available at Stajnia Lubiatówka, just 1.7 km away — a fitting way to explore the coastal landscape at a slower pace. A viewing platform (Platforma widokowa) sits 4.5 km from the beach, and the Wydma Lubiatowska dune is reachable at 4.7 km, offering a sense of the dramatic dune geography shaping this coastline. A short drive of 6.7 km brings you to Białogóra Beach, a remote shore within a protected dune-forest reserve with a 300-metre-deep dune belt — well worth the detour. The small Kashubian village of Choczewo, 8.7 km away, has a historic church and is the nearest settlement with basic services.

Instagram spots

The vast, unbroken sweep of golden sand stretching to the horizon is the defining shot here.

The boundary where the deliberately unmanaged coastal forest meets open beach offers dramatic, windswept compositions. The IBW PAN monitoring infrastructure against a blue Baltic sky makes for an unexpectedly striking and unusual coastal image.

Where to eat

Right at the beach you'll find a café-bar simply listed as Plaża w Lubiatowie, and within 100 metres Bar Leśny, Bar Wilga, and Nina offer quick bites and refreshments. For something a little further afield, Nad brzegiem is 2.6 km away, and Pizzeria Ricardo serves pizza at 2.7 km — both reasonable options if you want a sit-down meal after a long walk along the shore.

Where to stay

The closest upscale option is Pałac Ciekocinko Hotel Resort & Wellness, a resort-and-wellness property 7.6 km from the beach — a comfortable base if you want amenities after a day on the wild shore. Kaszubskie Wzgórze is a further option at 12 km, suited to those who prefer a quieter, more rural setting in the Kashubian landscape.

Photography

Shoot the wide, flat foreshore at golden hour when low Baltic light rakes across the golden sand and the blue water catches a warm glow — the sheer unbroken length of the beach gives you natural leading lines that stretch to the horizon. The edge of the deliberately unmanaged coastal forest, where wind-bent trees meet open sand, makes a compelling frame for moody, atmospheric shots in overcast conditions.

Good to know

No lifeguard is noted at this beach — swim with caution, especially as the Baltic can be deceptively cold. After storms, unmanaged forest paths may have fallen trees blocking the way, so check conditions before heading into the coastal forest. Respect the research infrastructure: do not touch, move, or disturb any monitoring equipment or stations — this is a legal and ethical obligation, not a suggestion. No vehicles are permitted on the beach or in the forest, and seasonal access congestion can slow your arrival, so aim to arrive early.

June through September is the best window, in line with the Northern hemisphere temperate climate of the Baltic Coast. Outside these months the weather turns cold and grey quickly. Avoid peak summer if you want the beach at its emptiest — though it's generally quiet year-round.

No. The forest path and soft golden sand make this beach not wheelchair accessible. The unmanaged coastal forest paths can also have fallen trees after storms, adding further obstacles. Visitors with mobility needs should check conditions locally before attempting access.
Photography of the IBW PAN monitoring infrastructure is fine from a distance, but you must not touch, move, or disturb any research equipment or monitoring stations. This is a working scientific site with permanent protection from development. Treat the equipment as you would any protected installation.
