Supetar Beach
Brač island's welcoming town beach, just steps from the ferry.

About
Plaža Supetar is the quintessential Dalmatian town beach, a convenient 300-meter stretch of mixed grey sand and pebbles. Its crystal-clear water has a shallow, gentle entry, making it a favorite for families. Backed by a handsome stone promenade lined with palm trees, the beach blends seamlessly with the life of the town, putting all amenities within easy reach.
How to get there
The only way to reach Plaža Supetar and the island of Brač is by sea. Frequent daily ferries make the journey from Split in 20 to 50 minutes, depending on the service. As access is by boat only, there is no road leading to the beach and consequently no parking available.
Who it's for
For couples
A romantic evening stroll along the stone promenade, hand-in-hand, followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant like Gušti Mora, makes this a simple but charming spot for couples.
For families
The shallow, gentle entry into the sea is perfect for small children, and the proximity to town amenities means ice cream, snacks, and restrooms are never far away. It's an easy, stress-free beach day.
Our take
Feet in the sand, eyes on the screen
Plaža Supetar is the definition of convenience. You step off the ferry from Split, and you're practically there. It's not a wild, secluded cove; it's a lively, functional town beach that serves its purpose beautifully for families and day-trippers. The water is clean, the swimming is safe, and everything you need is within a five-minute walk. While you should watch for the occasional ferry wash, its greatest strength is its effortless accessibility. It's the perfect introduction to the relaxed pace of island life on Brač.
What to do
Beyond the water, explore the town's cultural side at the Supetar Cemetery, just 0.5km away, noted for its remarkable sculptures. For a dose of island history, the Škrip Archaeological Museum is a 10km trip. If you're up for a drive, the panoramic views from Vidova Gora, the highest peak in the Adriatic islands, are 20km away.
Capture the classic Dalmatian scene from the stone promenade, looking out over the water with the palm trees framing your shot.
Another great angle is from the water looking back at the charming town buildings. The arrival of a Jadrolinija ferry adds a dynamic element to any photo.
Where to eat
You're spoiled for choice with restaurants just steps from the sand. Punta and Neven are both within 200 meters, with Roso offering pizza at a similar distance. For more options, Lukin and Gušti Mora are a pleasant 0.6km walk along the waterfront.
Where to stay
While there are many options in Supetar, the Boutique Hostel Alegria is a convenient and noted choice located just 0.6km from the beach, making it an easy walk back after a day in the sun.
Photography
For the best shots, frame the crystal-clear water against the backdrop of the traditional stone promenade in the morning light. Late afternoon offers a golden glow on the palm trees and the town's architecture.
Good to know
Remember that dogs are not permitted on the beach during the main summer season. Be mindful if you're swimming near the ferry terminal end of the beach; the wash from arriving and departing vessels can create brief, choppy water. For a laptop-friendly break, Ben Quick café is just a 0.4km stroll away.
