Fuente Salud Beach
Golden sand, blue water, marina life on the Costa del Sol

About
Fuente Salud Beach stretches roughly 400 metres along the Benalmádena coastline, its golden sand meeting calm blue water in one of Andalusia's most accessible family spots. The beach sits right beside Puerto Marina, so the scent of salt air mingles with the hum of a working harbour just steps away. It's a lively place — sun loungers fill up fast, the promenade stays animated from morning to evening, and the backdrop of the Costa del Sol hills gives the whole scene a warm, unhurried character. A Blue Flag rating keeps standards high, and easy access from the marina or a short drive from Benalmádena means you're on the sand within minutes.
How to get there
From Benalmádena, it's a five-minute drive; from the adjacent marina, a five-minute walk along the promenade puts you right on the sand. The beach is open 24 hours. Public parking is available near the beach and Puerto Marina, though spaces are limited to fewer than 50 and are unpatrolled — arrive early in summer or you'll be circling. There's no entry fee.
Who it's for
For couples
An evening walk from the beach along the promenade to Puerto Marina — with its bars, restaurants, and moored yachts lit up after dark — makes for an easy, genuinely atmospheric date without needing a plan.
For families
Safe swimming, easy access, golden sand, and Parque de la Paloma just 1.8km away give families a full day's itinerary without stress; the Blue Flag status means facilities and water quality are held to a consistent standard.
Our take
Feet in the sand, eyes on the screen
Fuente Salud is a reliable, well-organised beach that does exactly what it promises — safe swimming, golden sand, easy access, and a lively marina on its doorstep. It's not a secret, and it doesn't pretend to be. The Blue Flag standard and family-friendly setup make it a genuinely solid choice for a Costa del Sol day out. Skip August if you can; the beach is at its best in June or early July when the water is warm and the pace is a notch more relaxed. The cable car to Mount Calamorro is worth building into your day — it shifts the whole visit from 'beach trip' to something with a bit more range.
What to do
The cable car up to Mount Calamorro — about 4.9km away — is the area's standout excursion, delivering panoramic views across the Costa del Sol, the Sierra Nevada, and on clear days the African coast. Back at ground level, Parque de la Paloma is a pleasant 1.8km away and a good call if you're with younger visitors. Colomares Castle, roughly 9km out, is a genuinely unusual monument dedicated to Christopher Columbus with intricate architectural detailing worth the short trip.
The marina entrance framed against the blue water at sunrise is the beach's most striking shot.
The cable car station at Mount Calamorro (4.9km) offers aerial Costa del Sol panoramas that are hard to beat. Shoot the golden sand looking east along the shoreline in the late afternoon for warm, long-shadow light.
Where to eat
Puerto Marina Benalmadena Oficial is the obvious first stop — it's just 0.2km from the beach and rated highly across tens of thousands of reviews, with a wide range of dining and leisure options along the marina waterfront. For something further afield, Centro Comercial Los Patios offers a broader food-court spread about 10.7km away.
Where to stay
Meliá Costa del Sol, 2.7km from the beach, and Sandos Griego Hotel at 3km are the closest well-rated options, both consistently praised by thousands of guests. If you want to stay a little further out, Hotel Benalma Costa del Sol (5.2km) carries the highest guest rating of the nearby properties.
Photography
Shoot from the western end of the beach at golden hour — the marina masts and the warm light on the golden sand make for a strong foreground-to-background composition. Early morning, before the beach fills, gives you clean lines along the shoreline with the blue water at its calmest and most reflective.
Good to know
July and June are your sweet spots; August brings peak summer visitors and the beach gets genuinely packed, so consider an early-morning visit if you're set on that month. The parking area is unpatrolled, so keep valuables out of sight in your car. Swimming is rated safe here, but always check local flag conditions on the day before entering the water. The promenade connects directly to Puerto Marina, making an evening stroll a natural end to a beach day.
